My background and experience

Janet Scarborough Civitelli

I’ve been a licensed psychologist since 2005. My education includes a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in Economics from The University of California at Los Angeles. My current licensure is in the State of Texas (#34252) and all PSYPACT states. I work exclusively via telehealth (using a secure version of Zoom).

My theoretical orientation to therapy is informed by these theories and approaches: attachment, psychodynamic, narrative, interpersonal, systems, and strengths-based psychology.

I am certified as an executive and personal coach, and I have extensive expertise in career and leadership development. My therapy style often integrates principles from coaching psychology. I write about work and careers at Remote-First Coaching.

I was trained by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis to practice clinical hypnosis.

All of my work demonstrates my commitments to:
- Education
- Science
- Economic and social justice
- Sustainability
- Allyship with the LGBTQ+ community
- Respect for and understanding of neurodivergence
